The Importance of Spiritual Self-Care for Women

The Importance of Spiritual Self-Care for Women
By Julie Hines, RMT, BMsc

In a world where women are expected to wear countless hats—mother, partner, friend, professional, caregiver—it’s easy to forget the most important relationship of all: the one with ourselves. Spiritual self-care is more than just a buzzword; it’s a lifeline. It’s the soul’s way of whispering, "Come back to me."

What Is Spiritual Self-Care?

Spiritual self-care is the intentional practice of nourishing your inner world. It goes beyond bubble baths and yoga sessions (though those are wonderful too!) and dives deeper into connection—connection with your higher self, your intuition, and the divine energy that flows through all things. It's about listening to your inner voice, honoring your sacred truth, and making space for stillness and reflection.

Why Women Need It Now More Than Ever

Women are natural nurturers, but often we nurture everyone but ourselves. We carry the weight of expectations, emotional labor, and the pressure to always “keep it together.” This constant giving can lead to burnout, anxiety, and a deep disconnection from who we are beneath the roles.

Spiritual self-care helps us:

- Reclaim our energy: It’s easy to give our power away without realizing it. Spiritual practices help us call it back.

- Find clarity: In the stillness, we receive divine guidance and insight we often miss in the busyness of life.

- Feel grounded: When the world feels chaotic, our spiritual anchor keeps us centered and strong.
- Heal old wounds: Spiritual care brings awareness to the areas of our soul that need light, compassion, and forgiveness.

How I Support Women on Their Journey

As a Registered Massage Therapist with over 25 years of experience and a background in energy healing, I offer a safe and sacred space for women to reconnect with themselves. My services include:

- Massage Therapy (including prenatal and postnatal) to release tension, promote relaxation, and restore balance.

- Energy Healing & Clearing to help remove energetic blockages and support emotional and spiritual release.

- Spiritual Empowerment Sessions to guide women in aligning with their inner truth, power, and divine purpose.

- Workshops & Gatherings to build community and explore soul growth in supportive, heart-centered ways.

Practices You Can Start Today

Here are a few ways to begin nurturing your spirit:

- Create sacred space: Even a corner of your home can become your sanctuary. Fill it with candles, crystals, affirmations, or anything that speaks to your soul.

- Daily check-ins: Ask yourself each morning,

What does my spirit need today?

- Journaling: Let your thoughts, dreams, and feelings flow freely. Clarity often arrives through the pen.

- Meditation and breathwork: Just five minutes a day can bring peace and perspective.

- Spend time in nature: Let the Earth hold you and remind you of your sacredness.

- Book a session: Sometimes we need support in our journey. Receiving care is a beautiful act of self-love.

 It’s Not Selfish—It’s Sacred

Choosing to care for your spirit isn’t a luxury
it’s a necessity. When you tend to your inner world, everything in your outer world begins to shift. You become a more present mother, a more empowered woman, and a clearer channel for love and purpose.

Spiritual self-care isn’t about escaping life—it’s about returning to it with more grace, clarity, and authenticity.

So to all the women out there: your soul has been whispering. It’s time to listen.

So Afraid of Dying, We Forget to Live

"So Afraid of Dying, We Forget to Live" Isn’t it strange how so many people are afraid of dying… yet they’re not really living? It’s a bit of a contradiction. The fear of death is really about the fear of not living . And yet, that fear often holds us back from doing exactly what we’re here to do— live . We get stuck in routines, worry about the future, and put off things that bring us joy. We play it safe, thinking we’re protecting ourselves. But what we’re really doing is missing out. Day by day, we slowly lose the spark of being truly alive. And for what? If we're constantly thinking about death, we’re not actually living. It's a pointless anxiety, because the one thing we all know for sure is that life will eventually end. The real question is: What are we doing with the time we’ve got? So how do we turn it around? Feel the fear, but don’t let it control you. It’s okay to be afraid sometimes. Just don’t let it stop you from living. Say yes more. Say yes to ...

We Can Only Help Others as Far as We've Helped Ourselves

We Can Only Help Others as Far as We've Helped Ourselves By Julie Hines There’s a saying that goes, " You can't pour from an empty cup . "But in the world of healing, coaching, and even just being a supportive friend or family member, there’s another layer: You can only guide people as far as you’ve gone yourself. That’s not meant to be discouraging—it’s a reminder of the power and importance of inner work. Why It's So Important to Do Your Own Inner Healing Whether it’s childhood trauma, relationship wounds, abandonment, rejection, or unresolved emotional pain— these unhealed parts of us quietly shape how we show up in the world. They influence how we speak, how we connect, how we react, and how we help others. If we haven't looked at our own pain with honesty and compassion, we’re likely to: - Project our wounds onto others   - Give advice from a place of fear rather than truth   - Avoid deeper conversations because they mirror our own suppressed pain   - ...
